Job summary

PEG, LLC is seeking a Field Engineer In Training for the Richmond, VA region. The role focuses on learning Energy Sustainability and Building Energy Performance for new residential construction, with on-the-job training to become a certified HERS Rater.

The position requires conducting audits under RESNET guidelines, inspecting materials, collecting data, and testing building performance. Travel within a 100-mile radius is expected, with collaboration across builders and officials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• HERS Rater, Energy Star, Green Building, ACCA 310 HVAC Grading, IECC, HVAC EPA, BPI and LEED certifications are a plus.
• 2 years HVAC, home remodeling, or construction experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform Home Energy Audits per RESNET/Energy Star guidelines.
• Inspect materials, collect data, and observe energy features.
• Test system performance with blower door, ventilation, and duct leakage tests.
• Communicate with builders and code officials effectively.
• Prepare electronic audit reports and necessary paperwork.
• Maintain equipment per policy and manufacturer specs.
