Job summary

CEC Companies in Taylor, TX is seeking an Energy Marshal to manage energization controls on data center projects. You will act as the single authority for energization and de-energization, ensuring safety and compliance for live systems.

This field-based role collaborates with PMs, superintendents, commissioning teams, safety personnel, and client representatives to protect personnel and uptime. NFPA 70E and LOTO procedures are central to daily operations.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience in electrical construction, commissioning, startup, or operations.
• Extensive experience as Energy Marshal, Switching Authority, or Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (site-level).
• NFPA 70E certification or equivalent electrical safety training.
• Experience supporting integrated systems testing (IST) and live environment construction.
• Background with mission critical and commercial electrical construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of control for energization, de-energization, re-energization, and switching on assigned projects.
• Review, approve, and coordinate Energized Work Permits (EWPs), switching plans, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Enforce the CEC LOTO program onsite; direct Deputy Energy Marshals in the safe execution of LOTO policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with the QACX Superintendent, General Contractor, client, and vendors requiring LOTO for proper documentation and timely requests.
• Maintain authority to approve, deny, or stop work related to electrical energy based on safety, readiness, or risk.
• Lead energization planning meetings and pre-task briefings; communicate system status and boundaries clearly.
• Enforce NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA and site-specific safety standards related to electrical work.
• Verify arc flash studies, PPE requirements, and shock/arc boundaries prior to energization.
• Investigate and document energy-related incidents and maintain logs of energization and approvals.
