Job summary

CEC Companies in Cedar Rapids is seeking an Energy Marshal to lead energization control on mission-critical data center projects. This field-based role coordinates with project management, superintendents, and client teams to ensure energized work is planned, approved, and executed safely.

The Energy Marshal enforces NFPA 70E and site procedures, reviews EWPs, and mentors deputies, maintaining zero tolerance for outages while managing documentation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in electrical construction, commissioning, startup, or operations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical equipment and systems to act as energization authority.
• Experience as Energy Marshal, Switching Authority, or electrical authority at site level.
• NFPA 70E certification or equivalent electrical safety training.
• Experience supporting IST and live-environment construction.
• Background in mission critical and commercial electrical projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of control for energization, de-energization, and switching on projects.
• Review and coordinate EWPs, switching plans, and LOTO procedures.
• Enforce LOTO programs onsite and direct Deputies in safe execution.
• Coordinate with GC, client, and vendors to ensure documentation is complete.
• Maintain authority to approve, deny, or stop energization based on safety and risk.
• Plan energization activities in live data center environments with zero unplanned outages.
• Prepare MOP, SBS, SOP, and EOP documents for safe execution.
