Job summary

City of New York's Fire Department (FDNY) is seeking a full-time Energy Conservation Specialist Level III in the Bureau of Facilities Management. The role requires certification for Energy Management and Sustainability (EFS) with a specialization in Building Design + Construction or Operations + Maintenance.

You will maintain a management information system for project planning and visit job sites to prepare detailed scopes with time and cost schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field or equivalent.
• Apprentice program in construction trades with energy efficiency focus and two years’ experience.
• Four years’ full-time energy generation or conservation experience.
• Education/experience equivalent to the above options.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a management information system for project planning and control.
• Visit job sites and prepare detailed preliminary scopes with time and cost schedules.
• Coordinate activities between agencies and departments responsible for project completion.
• Review schedules, reports and orders to ensure conformance with deadlines.
• Review work performance and prepare management reports highlighting problems.
• Support procurement cycle of a project scope and resolve cost/schedule issues.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field

Apprentice program in construction trade with energy efficiency focus

Four years of full-time energy generation or conservation experience

Education and/or experience equivalent to 1-3 above
