Job summary

The City of Lafayette is seeking an Energy Code Compliance Specialist to enforce energy codes through plan review, on-site inspections, and technical guidance. The role serves as the City’s energy code expert, coordinating with the Building Division and Chief Building Official to ensure consistent processes.

The incumbent will spend about half time researching stretch code policy, benchmarking, and construction waste diversion, while addressing energy efficiency across diverse project types

Qualifications

• Three years of inspection, plan review, energy auditing, or related experience.
• Experience with energy code plan review and inspections.
• Knowledge of stretch code policy development and benchmarking.

Responsibilities

• Review building permit applications and documents for energy code compliance.
• Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with energy code requirements.
• Explain energy code requirements to contractors, designers, homeowners, and City staff.
• Coordinate energy code requirements with the Building Division.
• Monitor energy code developments and support updates to City codes.
• Participate in regional collaborations and public engagement related to energy code.
• Maintain records and assist with administrative tasks in permitting and inspection operations.
