Abbott in Columbus is seeking a Trainee to learn the fundamentals of energy center operation and maintenance at the Columbus Plant Energy Center (Powerhouse). The role blends classroom training for industrial maintenance and on‑the‑job instruction with licensed boiler operators.

You will gain hands-on experience with boiler/steam, chilled water, and related systems while progressing toward the Ohio SSE license and adhering to GMP and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, plus a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong math skills, written and verbal communication, self-motivation, and analytical problem solving.
• Must have an Ohio SSE (Stationary Steam Engineer) license.
• Ability to learn highly technical, complex processes.

Responsabilités

• Understand Energy Center processes including operation, maintenance and safety.
• Complete classroom learning to gain theoretical aptitude for Energy Center processes.
• Log boiler operating hours and training to pursue the Ohio SSE license as a 3rd class Stationary Engineer.
• Operate equipment safely, report accidents and follow SOPs, GMPs and safety guidelines.
• Maintain Energy Center systems and tools and ensure compliance with company policies.
