Abbott in Columbus, OH is seeking an Energy Center Operator Mechanic to safely operate and maintain energy systems, boilers, chillers, and HVAC equipment. You will diagnose failures, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.

The role requires OH boiler operator license, refrigeration certification, and hands-on mechanical experience. Flexible shifts and training support are offered as part of Abbott’s industrial maintenance team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED.
• State of Ohio boiler operator license for the assigned Energy Center responsibilities.
• Refrigeration certification or license
• Experience as an industrial mechanic, maintenance technician, utilities technician, stationary engineer, or similar hands-on mechanical role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment.
• Experience with pumps, motors, bearings, valves, piping, heat exchangers, compressors, boilers, HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance and safely return equipment to service.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, equipment documentation, operating procedures, drawings, and mechanical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize work with safety, reliability, and continuity in mind.
• Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance personnel, operations, engineering, contractors, vendors, and site customers.

Responsabilités

• Safely operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Energy Center equipment and utility systems.
• Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, piping, HVAC equipment.
• Operate boilers and steam systems per licensing and procedures.
• Monitor refrigeration and chilled-water systems and respond to alarms and issues.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify abnormal conditions or leaks.
• Coordinate repairs and coordinate outside services when needed.
• Lead maintenance training needs and drive workforce development programs.
• Maintain logs, work orders, and required regulatory records.
