Job summary

Abbott in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Trainee to learn fundamentals of energy center operation and maintenance at the Powerhouse. You will split time between classroom training for industrial maintenance and on-the-job sessions with licensed boiler operators in a real plant environment.

You will gain hands-on experience across boiler and steam systems, chilled and make-up water, air systems, filtration, and GMP compliance while working in a safety‑conscious team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, and a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent math, written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation, and analytical troubleshooting.
• Must have Stationary Steam Engineer (SSE) license in Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Learn fundamentals of Energy Center operation, maintenance, and safety.
• Attend classroom training for industrial maintenance and boiler operation; perform on-the-job training at the Powerhouse with licensed boiler operators.
• Operate and maintain Energy Center systems and machines in a safe, efficient manner, following GMP and safety procedures.
• Use Maximo CMMS to write and execute work orders, track parts, and document labor hours.
