Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Energy Center Operator Mechanic in Columbus, OH, to safely operate, monitor, and maintain complex energy center systems and industrial equipment. You will troubleshoot boilers, chillers, pumps, and HVAC equipment, ensuring continuous site operations and regulatory compliance.

You will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, diagnose failures, and coordinate repair work with contractors when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• State of Ohio boiler operator license for assigned Energy Center responsibilities.
• Refrigeration certification or license.
• Experience as industrial mechanic, maintenance technician, utilities technician, stationary engineer, or similar hands‑on mechanical role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and repair abilities.
• Experience with pumps, motors, valves, piping, heat exchangers, compressors, boilers, HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to work overtime and various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Energy Center equipment and utility systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Diagnose failures and coordinate repairs with contractors or specialists as needed.
• Lead maintenance training and drive continuous improvement of maintenance programs.
• Maintain logs, records, and regulatory documentation.
• Provide overtime, call‑in, weekend, and holiday coverage as required.
