Job summary

Atelier Ten in New York City seeks an Environmental Designer with a specialty in Energy Analysis to collaborate on projects that reduce energy use and carbon emissions. You will produce technical deliverables, run whole-building energy models and develop strategies for HVAC and building systems, leading decarbonization efforts within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant field.
• 2–5 years of professional work in building energy analysis or high‑performance HVAC design.
• Experience with energy simulation software (IES‑VE, eQuest; EnergyPlus/Grasshopper a plus).
• Ability to frame engineering problems related to HVAC, envelopes and energy use.
• Experience with HVAC/plumbing systems design and energy code standards.
• Experience with ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1 and 189; LEED/WELL knowledge helpful.
• Experience documenting energy models; strong written and graphical communication.
• Fluent English and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop energy models for buildings and masterplans using IES‑VE, eQuest or similar.
• Evaluate envelope performance and mechanical system options across climates.
• Identify net‑zero energy and carbon strategies and prepare client reports.
• Collaborate with architects and design teams to improve energy and carbon outcomes.
• Support senior staff with energy analyses, benchmarking and life‑cycle cost studies.
