Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Energetic Technician 2 or 3 at our Elkton, Maryland site to support processing, handling and testing energetic materials under strict safety protocols.

You will assist engineers in mechanical, electrical and electromechanical tasks, operate production equipment, and help maintain compliance with HOPS, ESD and 5S standards while coordinating with DCMA oversight and ensuring traceability of materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 2 years of manufacturing experience or a related education/combination.
• Hands-on manufacturing vs. automation experience.
• Ability to multi-task and work on more than one item at a time.
• Good reading and math skills.
• Exposure to chemistry and vocational training (soldering, woodworking, metalworking, electrical, automotive assembly, welding or mechanical training).
• Certified for respirator use; able to be trained in forklift/hoist operation.

Responsibilities

• Follow supervision and lead technicians to fabricate rocket motors; handle explosives and chemicals per procedures.
• Read and follow written manufacturing instructions.
• Safely handle hazardous materials per OSHA and company policies.
• Operate production equipment (mixers, presses, lathes, scales, hoists, forklift, ovens, paint booths).
• Exercise cross-area support across Ordnance, Casting, Insulation, Final Assembly, and Lining as needed.
• Identify design, planning, or manufacturing non-conformances and address them.
• Stop operations for safety, report near misses or incidents, and tag equipment as needed.
