Job summary
UDRI seeks a skilled Energetic Materials Processing Technician to support pressing operations at the HERD Facility within AFRL at Eglin AFB, FL. The role involves operating precision pressing systems, ensuring safety, and collaborating with scientists to advance RDT&E programs.
The ideal candidate has an engineering technology background with lab experience in energetic materials, strong data documentation and a commitment to safety and quality.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field plus 1 year in a hands-on technical role.
- Or high school diploma with 3+ years in lab/test environments with explosives or energetic materials.
- Competency with Microsoft Office for planning, communication and data archival.
- U.S. citizen and ability to obtain/maintain DoD SECRET clearance.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate precision pressing systems to consolidate energetic materials.
- Monitor dwell time, force, displacement and temperature for targeted densities.
- Maintain and inspect pressing equipment, die sets and safety systems.
- Record process parameters and metrology data with high accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with explosive safety standards and SOPs.
- Collaborate with researchers to communicate results and improvement opportunities.
