Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Prior Experience as a GI Tech preferred.
• Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Function as an assistive person during endoscopy procedures by protecting the patient from injury and assisting the endoscopist.
• Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and follow procedures for reporting unsafe situations.
• Speak up with safety concerns acting as the patient’s advocate.
• Handle specimens according to facility policy and procedures.
• Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain an organized sterile field and assemble supplies required for procedures.
• Prepare and clean equipment and instruments for processing and transport them to decontamination areas.
• Ensure scopes are prepared for use per policies and manufacturer’s instructions.
