Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking an Endoscopy Support Technician to assist physicians during endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies and EGDs. The role involves preparing the procedure room, maintaining sterile and organized environments, and supporting the clinical team during procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies and EGDs.
• Prepare the procedure room and maintain clean examination areas.
• Ensure patient safety during electrocautery procedures.
• Assist providers during emergent situations up to cardiac arrest.
• Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate annual checks with vendors.
• Maintain endoscope inventory and check optics and channels.
• Restock endoscopy supplies and monitor expiration dates.
• Perform other duties as required.

Overview

Assists physicians during endoscopy procedures, handling specimens collected

Responsibilities

Assists physicians with various procedures, including, but not limited to, colonoscopies, upper gastrointestinal endoscopies (EGDs), esophageal dilations.

Prepares procedure room for case, maintaining clean examination areas by setting up rooms.

Responsible for patient safety during electrocautery procedures, ensuring proper patient grounding and proper function of electrocautery equipment.

Assist providers/clinical team within scope of licensure during emergent situation up to and including cardiac arrest.

Troubleshoots equipment malfunction, calls for yearly equipment checks, and calls equipment vendors for assistance.

Handles the maintenance of all endoscopes. Checks all scopes that will be used for color and clarity, that air and water channels are open, that the control knobs are not too tight or loose, and also completes visual inspection of insertion tube for buckling or bite marks.

Responsible for maintaining inventory par levels, restocking endoscopy related supplies in procedure rooms and monitoring expiration dates.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate with previous health care experience preferred.

Must possess the ability to anticipate, prioritize, and coordinate work.

Must function independently, as well as a member of a team in a high stress environment.

Excellent verbal communication skills required.
