Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University seeks a GI Technician to assist in Endoscopy procedures, setup rooms, and support transport of equipment across ICU, OR, and other locations. You will help with pre-cleaning and decontamination of endoscopes and ensure infection control standards are met.

The role includes 24-hour call once per week and one weekend every six weeks, with responsibilities across procedure prep, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure turnover.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technology program from a community college.
• One year of GI procedure unit or surgical room experience within the last five years.
• One year of experience in Gastroenterology preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or prior to independent practice.
• Able to ride tram daily; arrive within 30 minutes of being paged when on call.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms with required instruments, equipment, and supplies; verify sterility and functionality.
• Assist provider during procedures; hand instruments and respond quickly to needs.
• Assist in obtaining specimens and transport to the laboratory.
• Post-procedure decontamination and room turnover; high-level disinfection or sterilization as required.
• Maintain and troubleshoot endoscopic equipment; communication with maintenance teams.
• Stock procedure rooms and coordinate equipment sharing and transportation as directed.
• Provide patient preparation and education before and after procedures; assist with scheduling and reminders.
