Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Endoscopy Support Technician to assist the endoscopist and RN during GI procedures, participate in room setup and equipment maintenance, and help with instrument reprocessing after procedures. The role requires teamwork, attention to sterilization protocols, and adherence to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies and endoscopic equipment, assisting with special procedures under supervision, and communicating effectively

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate's degree in health-related field preferred.
• Prior GI-endoscopy experience preferred.
• CPR- American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

• Maintains Procedure room supplies and endoscopic equipment; ensures adequate equipment availability (40%).
• Works as an integral team member during GI-endoscopic procedures (30%).
• Disassembles and reprocesses instrumentation post-procedure and maintains documentation (20%).
• Maintains effective two-way communications with patients, families, and health-care team (5%).
• Assists with special procedures under RN/MD direction (e.g., YAG lasers, wound care) (5%).
• Performs other duties as assigned (0%).
