Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an Endoscopic Gastroenterology Technician to support physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures. You will prepare rooms, maintain equipment, and help ensure patient safety throughout colonoscopies, ERCPs, and related interventions.

The role emphasizes infection control, instrument handling, and collaboration with the medical team to enable safe, efficient GI care in a high-stakes clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Strong infection control and aseptic technique to ensure a sterile environment.
• Ability to decontaminate, package, and sterilize instrumentation safely.
• Accountability for patient care environment and equipment safety.
• Assist under supervision during procedures with readiness and focus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms with instruments, supplies, and functioning equipment.
• Assist gastroenterologists and nurses during colonoscopies, ERCPs, EGD, and related procedures.
• Operate and maintain endoscopic equipment and troubleshoot when needed.
• Follow infection control protocols for instrument handling and storage.
• Label specimens and document accurately; monitor patient comfort and safety.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
• Participate in inventory management and restocking of supplies.
• Assist with advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP and EUS as scrub assistant.
