Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is currently seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our day shift team at 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week). Under RN supervision, the PCT provides basic nursing care and supports the unit with essential tasks.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a CNA certification or enrollment in a health-science program with nursing fundamentals, or equivalent experience, plus BLS/CPR.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• CNA certification or ongoing health-science program with nursing fundamentals/clinical rotation.
• Equivalent health-science program or related experience acceptable.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and comfort, bed care, transfers.
• Assist with hygiene activities and postmortem care.
• Record vital signs and weight; document care as directed by RN.
• Collect specimens (sputum, urine, stool) and test glucose when needed.
• Maintain infection control and confidentiality; communicate with RN via systems.
