Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse II – Endocrinology to join its Durham, NC team. The role focuses on triage nursing for endocrinology patients, coordinating care with providers via telehealth and secure messaging from a non-clinical office site in Durham.

The nurse will handle triage, education, medication management, and care coordination while liaising with patients, families, and referring providers under pulmonology guidance. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
• You have a minimum of 2 years nursing experience and 1 year of med-surg experience.
• Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing triage, assessment and education to patients via telephone interactions and secure messaging.
• Manage patient needs including medication management, post procedure instructions and care coordination.
• Serve as a liaison to patients, family members and referring providers with guidance from pulmonary providers.
• Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
• Delegate tasks and direct the activities of unlicensed care providers (schedulers, Medical Assistants and Staff Assistants).
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
• Participate in performance improvement and patient experience activities.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education

BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma

NC RN licensure (current or compact)

BSN enrollment within 2 years; complete within 7 years
