Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam and records vital signs and chief complaint; documents pain scores.
• Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures including taking blood pressure, respiration, and EKGs; performs phlebotomy and related tasks.
• Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; communicates test results to patient.
• Provides clerical support and ensures complete medical records and billing information; maintains patient privacy and data integrity.
• Maintains a clean clinical environment, disinfects equipment, and handles hazardous substances according to guidelines.
• Orders supplies, stocks patient care areas, and manages medication recalls.
• Develops effective communication with patients and team members; demonstrates service orientation.
• Completes onboarding/orientation activities and simulation training as directed.
• Works under supervision of providers and coordinates with other staff and external contacts.
