Job summary

Northwest Ambulance is hiring its first Payroll Manager to own payroll for about 430 employees. You will consolidate the entire function into a single seat, decide payroll operations, and handle classification and regulatory filings.

You will work with ADP imports from ESO, interpret FLSA and Washington wage laws, and design pay practices that withstand audits while maintaining accuracy and compliance. This on-site role is based in Everett, WA.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of payroll experience with hundreds of employees.
• Ability to interpret wage and hour law and apply it to payroll practices.
• Working knowledge of Washington L&I, Paid Family and Medical Leave, WA Cares, and paid sick leave.
• Familiarity with FLSA regular-rate calculations and exemptions.
• Hands-on experience configuring earnings codes, deductions, and pay rules in ADP.

Responsibilities

• Design pay practices and interpret the law for payroll decisions.
• Own tax, L&I, and regulatory compliance for Washington and out-of-state employees.
• Manage timekeeping policy, approvals, and cycle deadlines.
• Process cycles in ADP and ensure ESO data flow matches rules.
• Reconcile payroll liability and tax filings to GL and W-2s.
• Audit readiness for audits and represent the company as needed.
• Automate payroll workflows and document processes.
