Job summary

Northwood Space, a modern space infrastructure company, seeks a DSP Engineer to own modem algorithms end-to-end for our next‑gen radio platform. You will integrate waveform processing on an in‑house SDR/FPGA stack and partner with RF, FPGA, and systems teams to validate performance in satellite-ground network scenarios.

The role emphasizes practical implementation, real-time signal processing, and collaboration across hardware and software to deliver high‑reliability communications for space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering or a related field.
• 0–4 years of relevant experience in DSP, modulation, or waveform processing.
• Strong understanding of CCSDS waveforms, BPSK/QPSK/OQPSK, and DVB-S2 concepts.
• Ability to translate waveform algorithms into working implementations.
• Experience with end-to-end modem design and performance validation.

Responsibilities

• Own the modem algorithms end-to-end from requirements to validation.
• Define waveform processing chains for SDR or FPGA implementation.
• Partition modem functions between FPGA logic and host-based compute.
• Collaborate with RF, FPGA, and systems engineers to validate performance.
• Develop and run tests to characterize modem behavior under realistic channels.
