Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is hiring an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide Basic Life Support for emergency and non-emergency requests. The EMT will transport patients safely, coordinate with police, fire and hospital teams, and document care per NJ regulations and HMH policies.

The role requires strong communication, driving an emergency vehicle, and updating patient data with medical control. A valid NJ EMT certification and BLS are required with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Two years of BLS experience; 911 experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls in a timely manner and supports public safety personnel.
• Performs pre-hospital basic life support per patient condition and documents changes.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely and adheres to HMH policies for vehicle use.
• Conducts daily vehicle and equipment checks and maintains supplies.
• Completes patient care reports and handoffs to receiving providers as required.
• Maintains PPE, equipment, and vehicle cleanliness; reports equipment issues promptly.
• Provides education within EMT scope as directed by leadership.
