Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) for emergency and non-emergency requests. The EMT will assess patients, administer pre-hospital care, and transport patients safely while coordinating with police, fire, and hospital staff.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and current NJ EMT certification (or NREMT with reciprocity).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current NJ EMT certification, or NREMT certification with NJ reciprocity eligibility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office/Google Suite).
• Two years of BLS experience preferred; 911 experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls promptly and supports public safety personnel during patient care.
• Assesses patients and provides pre-hospital BLS; communicates changes to clinicians.
• Ensures safe transport and proper handoff to receiving staff.
• Performs vehicle and equipment checks; maintains clean, ready EMS units.
• Complies with NJ regulations and HMH policies for emergency services.
