Job summary

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a full-time EMS program manager to oversee the EMS System operations, education initiatives, and quality improvement activities. The role is in-office with 40 hours per week and requires clinical EMS experience and leadership ability.

Responsibilities include coordinating education for pre-hospital personnel and hospital staff, maintaining QA programs, and leading community outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

• RN with EMS experience and leadership capability at a hospital setting.
• Master's degree preferred; clinical EMS background required.
• Experience at a Level I or II Trauma Center/IDPH Resource Hospital preferred.
• Current EMS certifications and hospital education coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EMS System operations for 24/7 coverage and regional coordination.
• Develop and implement educational programs for EMS personnel and hospital RNs.
• Lead QA programs and provide feedback to drive process improvements.
• Coordinate community outreach and public relations activities.
• Support creation and maintenance of paramedic certification programs.

This is role is a full-time, in office position.

Pay Range:

$38.20 - $57.30

Major Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates the operational oversight of the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Medical Services System, which provides pre-hospital emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to 33 communities, private ambulance companies, and 9 Associate Hospitals.
2. Coordinates the development and implementation of educational needs of the EMS System. This will include initial and on-going education for pre-hospital personnel as well as RN's in the hospital environment.
3. Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance Programs for the Good Samaritan Hospital EMS System. The results of which provide feedback for process improvement and educational opportunities.
4. Coordinates community outreach or hospital-based public relations based events as needed ie. AED Public Access Programs.
5. Coordinate the development and implementation of the Critical Care Paramedic Certification Program in co-operation with the State of Illinois.
6. Coordinates community outreach programs as they relate to EMSS/Good Samaritan Hospital and the communities we serve.
7. 1)Liaison for hospital-based programs that interface Good Samaritan Hospital with EMSS
8. 2)Coordinates Good Samaritan Hospital EMSS in community health fair participation.
9. 3)Assists in the development of educational programs for the communities emergency rescue workers
10. Implements and maintains the Good Samaritan Hospital Quality Improvement Program for EMSS
11. 1)Coordinates the collection and reporting of state mandated quality improvement data to the state of Illinois for both EMSS and Trauma
12. 2)Coordinates quality improvement information to benefit the educational needs of EMSS care givers.
13. Coordinates the educational needs of EMSS providers and staff members. Includes the education of paramedics, Emergency Communication Registered Nurses (ECRN), Trauma Nurses (TNS) and medical staff related to EMSS.
14. Provide operational oversight for the EMSS and Paramedic Certification Program department
15. 1)Provide ongoing and annual performance feedback for associates in the department
16. 2)Provide input for the annual budgeting process
17. 3)Maintain operational budget
18. 4)Hold assoiciates accountable to the behavioral expectations as defined by Advocate Healthcare
19. Provides direction and oversight for EMSS by staying current regulations governing the emergency medical system in the state of Illinois
20. 1)Maintains knowledge of state regulations related to EMS practice and education
21. 2)Updates administrative leadership on changes to regulations and recommends resources to achieve/maintain regulatory standards
22. 3)Participates in local, regional and state level committees as necessary

Education/Experience Required:

• - RN with 3-5 years EMS experience or EMT-P with 5-7 years EMS experience - Master's Degree preferred - 3-4 years clinical experience - Experience at a Level I or II Trauma Center/IDPH Resource Hospital preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• - EMT-P in the State of Illinois - Current ACLS, PHTLS, TNS, TNCC, PALS/PEPP as related to field

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• - 24 hour accountability - Flexibility-unusual work hours under stressful conditions - Frequent off-site traveling to classrooms, fire departments, Associate Hospitals and IDPH state meetings
