Job summary

County Commissioners of Kent County, MD seeks a Medical Director to provide overall medical direction for the EMS program. The role credentializes providers, establishes medical policy, and coordinates training, protocols, and medications in alignment with Maryland rules.

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services, the physician will review medical calls, ensure quality assurance, and maintain collaboration with hospitals and regional EMS leaders.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Maryland.
• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• NIMS training and familiar with Maryland EMS system.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight of EMS program and dispatch processes.
• Approve QA plans, SOPs, and medical protocols for EMS.
• Coordinate licensure/certification approvals for EMS clinicians.
• Review patient care and disciplinary matters per COMAR.
• Serve as liaison to medical community and regional/state EMS directors.
• Formulate medical policies and ensure training standards for providers.
