Job summary

Roanoke County, Virginia seeks an Operational Medical Director to lead medical oversight for the Roanoke County Fire and Rescue EMS system and serve as EMD Medical Director for ECC. The OMD will develop standards, training, guidelines, and quality control for the EMS program.

The role collaborates with county leadership, hospitals, and local physicians to improve patient outcomes, conduct program evaluations, and ensure adherence to state EMS regulations.

Qualifications

• MD/DO must be board-certified and licensed to practice in Virginia.
• Extensive experience in EMS/EMD systems and medical direction.

Responsibilities

• Establishes education and proficiencies for EMS personnel under medical license.
• Provides medical oversight and direction for EMS protocols and standing orders.
• Responds to incidents to oversee medical care and EMS quality control.
• Participates in disaster preparedness and coordination with regional medical directors.
• Oversees EMD training and ECC EMD program evaluations.
