Mercyhealth is seeking an EMS Instructor in Wisconsin to lead EMS course development and deliver high-quality instruction across classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The role emphasizes adult learning theory, mentorship of junior instructors, and maintaining precise records.

The ideal candidate holds an Emergency Care degree, has Wisconsin EMS licensure, BLS and AHA Instructor certifications, and is prepared to travel up to 20% to educational sites.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a University or Community College with a degree or certificate in an Emergency Care discipline (i.e.: EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, MD)
• RN, BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program
• Two years of experience providing Emergency Care in Wisconsin at licensed level
• Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferred
• BLS certification within three months and AHA Instructor certification within one year

Responsibilities

• Develop EMT, AEMT, Paramedic and/or AHA course curricula under state/national guidelines
• Lead course development through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Deliver instruction across classroom, lab, clinical and online formats
• Provide mentorship to novice instructors and supervise as needed
• Maintain accurate class records and travel up to 20% for off-site presentations

OVERVIEWThe EMS Instructor, under the direct supervision of the EMS Unit Supervisor/EMS Coordinator, provides education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers. Takes a leadership role in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical and on-line instruction.Schedule: Variable/FlexibleShift: DaysESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates attributes of a professional educator: Self-motivated, effective communicator, effective time manager, team player, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, student advocate.Responsible for EMT, AEMT ,Paramedic and/or AHA Course development using the guidelines and curriculum outlined by state ( Wisconsin Department of Family Services and HFS 110) and/or the appropriate national agencies (CoAEMSP, FEMA, American Heart Association, etc.).Demonstrates the ability to provide quality instruction in all learning domains ( Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective)Applies the principles of Adult Learning to the classroomDemonstrates the ability to set clear and obtainable goals and objective for course participants and then monitor and evaluate student progress according to state, overseeing agency and/or department criteriaEngages the learner and provides well timed and effective feedbackProvides mentorship and/or supervision to the novice instructorInstructs in the at least one of the American Heart Association Classes (BLS, ACLS, PALS).Document, collect, maintain and submit accurate class recordsTeach at varied time and places using varied formats based on student demand: Day or evening, main campus, mobile Sim lab or on site of students' employment.Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with students, customers and Mercy Partners of all disciplines.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduation from a University or Community College with a degree or certificate in an Emergency Care discipline (i.e.: EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, MD, Law Enforcement)If RN, BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program.Two years of experience providing Emergency Care in ones State of Wisconsin Licensed level.CERTIFICATION/LICENSURERequired certification applicable to training assigned (i.e. State of Wisconsin or Illinois Licensed Emergency Care Provider, or other applicable certification, such as EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO or MD)State of Wisconsin or Illinois Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required within three (3) monthsCertified American Heart Association Instructor in at least one level (BLS, ACLS, PALS) within 1 yearOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESLanguage SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
