Job summary

Mercyhealth seeks an RN to deliver patient-centered care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You will administer medications, perform assessments, and develop care plans aligned with physician guidance and facility policies.

The role emphasizes documentation, patient/family education, and active participation in performance improvement and mentoring newer staff. An ADN is required; BSN preferred, with at least two years of experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.Documents according to standards of care.Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.Offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.Provides innovative ways to educate patient/familiesInitiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.IL: 20 Continuing education per year (10 of these per year are required for IL licensure) or WI: 20 Education hoursActively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited nursing program.ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.Minimum of 2 years experience required.CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURELicensed as an RN in state of practiceApproved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 daysOther certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRPADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSMay include color blind test (per department guidelines)SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.LEVEL OF SUPERVISIONCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
