Job summary

Silver Cross Hospital EMS Education Program seeks an EMS Instructor to provide classroom, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction, primarily for the Paramedic Program and possibly EMT content.

You will deliver educational content, evaluate students, develop exams, and support National Registry preparation, mentoring learners and advancing program quality.

Qualifications

• Illinois Paramedic or RN license in good standing.
• Illinois EMS Lead Instructor certification.
• Minimum 3 years EMS experience.
• Strong instructional and communication skills.
• Availability to teach on Mon/Wed/Fri with at least one day per week.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned didactic content.
• Participate in laboratory and simulation activities.
• Develop and update instructional materials.
• Assist with exam creation and review.
• Maintain academic records.
• Participate in faculty meetings.
• Support accreditation and program quality initiatives.

Position Summary:

The EMS Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction within the Silver Cross Hospital EMS Education Program. The instructor primarily supports the Paramedic Program but may also teach selected content within the EMT Program as assigned. Responsibilities include delivery of educational content, student evaluation, examination development, and supporting student success and National Registry preparation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Teach assigned didactic content
• Participate in laboratory and simulation activities
• Develop and update instructional materials
• Assist with exam creation and review
• Maintain academic records
• Participate in faculty meetings
• Support accreditation and program quality initiatives
• Mentor students and provide remediation when needed
• Serve as a professional role model and advocate for evidence-based EMS practice.

Required Education and Skills:

• Illinois Paramedic or Registered Nurse License in good standing
• Illinois EMS Lead Instructor
• Minimum 3 years of EMS experience
• Strong instructional and communication skills
• Availability to teach on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, with a minimum commitment of one instructional day per week.

Preferred

• NREMT Certification
• Prior Paramedic Program teaching experience
• Bachelor's degree
