Job summary

Silver Cross Hospital EMS Education Program seeks an experienced instructor to deliver classroom, lab, and simulation content primarily for the Paramedic Program. The role includes student evaluation, exam development, and NAR preparation, with opportunities to teach EMT content as assigned.

Requirements include Illinois Paramedic or RN license, Illinois EMS Lead Instructor, 3+ years EMS experience, and a Bachelor's degree. Availability for at least one day per week is needed.

Qualifications

• Illinois Paramedic or RN license in good standing.
• Illinois EMS Lead Instructor credential.
• Minimum 3 years EMS experience.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Ability to teach on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays with at least one instructional day per week.
• Preferred NREMT certification.
• Prior Paramedic Program teaching experience.
• Strong instructional and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned didactic content.
• Participate in laboratory and simulation activities.
• Develop and update instructional materials.
• Assist with exam creation and review.
• Maintain academic records.
• Participate in faculty meetings.
• Support accreditation and program quality initiatives.
• Mentor students and provide remediation when needed.

Position Summary:

The EMS Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction within the Silver Cross Hospital EMS Education Program. The instructor primarily supports the Paramedic Program but may also teach selected content within the EMT Program as assigned. Responsibilities include delivery of educational content, student evaluation, examination development, and supporting student success and National Registry preparation.

• Maintain academic records
• Participate in faculty meetings

Required Education and Skills:

• Illinois Paramedic or Registered Nurse License in good standing
• Illinois EMS Lead Instructor
• Minimum 3 years of EMS experience
• Strong instructional and communication skills
• Availability to teach on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, with a minimum commitment of one instructional day per week.
• Preferred NREMT Certification
• Prior Paramedic Program teaching experience
• Bachelor's degree
