Job summary

Priority Patient Transport seeks a hands-on Human Resources Generalist to manage day-to-day HR for a multi-site EMS organization across five Virginia offices. You will recruit, hire, onboard, credential and support EMS crews, while handling benefits, leave, payroll, and compliance tasks.

This role emphasizes practical execution over strategy and requires strong organizational skills. Experience in ambulance, EMS, or healthcare environments is strongly preferred and will be weighted heavily.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of HR experience covering recruiting, onboarding and employee paperwork.
• Ambulance, EMS, EMT or healthcare experience — strongly preferred and heavily weighted.
• Familiarity with I-9, FMLA, ADA and EEO basics.
• Experience tracking certifications, licenses or credentials against deadlines.
• Comfortable supporting a shift-based, multi-site, largely non-desk workforce.
• Highly organized, detail-driven, and dependable with deadlines.
• Discretion with confidential employee information.
• Proficient with HRIS/ATS systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between Virginia offices.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting and hiring for EMTs, paramedics, wheelchair van operators, dispatchers and office staff.
• Onboarding and credentialing coordination including background checks, DOT/physicals, and orientation scheduling.
• Employee support and retention efforts across multiple locations.
• Benefits, leave and payroll support including enrolling and administering processes.
• Records management and compliance with HR policies and federal/state contracts.
