Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience, or 1+ year EMS/public safety dispatcher experience.
• Strong reading and writing of English.
• Clear radio and telephone communication.
• Accurate recording, transmission and reporting of information.
• Efficient use of all assigned equipment.
• Ability to multitask.
• Good typing skills with speed and accuracy.
• Basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement Emergency Medical Dispatch concepts as published in Principles of Emergency Medical Dispatch (and customized by AMR).
• Allocate EMS resources using approved protocols and decision-making rules.
• Maintain completeness and accuracy of paperwork before shift end.
• Enter shift data accurately, including State Run Report data where assigned.
• Generate applicable reports and verify accuracy of data.
• Assist in locating scene of incidents and determine safest, fastest route using locator aids.
• Relay instructions from supervisors and disseminate emergency information.
• Maintain knowledge of company policies, procedures, rules and memoranda.
