Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in Dayton is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support urgent medical calls. You'll gather patient information, confirm location and access details, and establish priorities using approved protocols.

The role involves console work, overnight shifts possible, and overtime. Applicants should have a high school diploma; CPR certification; and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification where available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; EMT/paramedic not always required.
• CPR certification; Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification if available.
• Ability to follow protocols and work in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the approved medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
