Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Kermit, WV is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support urgent medical responses. You will receive emergency calls, confirm location and callback details, ask standardized questions, and establish response priorities using the agency’s dispatch system.

Depending on assignment, you may provide protocol-based instructions before responders arrive, coordinate ambulance resources, document calls, and participate in quality reviews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
• Employer may sponsor training or require Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities
