Job Summary

The EMS Dispatcher primarily coordinates the distribution of EMS and other medical vehicles for patient transport requests to and from Harris Health System facilities. They utilize advanced technology to dispatch appropriate EMS resources that meet patients' needs and ensure safe and timely transports. The EMS Dispatcher works closely with the Transfer Center, clinical care teams, and system leadership to ensure efficient processes, effective resource management, and full compliance with Harris Health System policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education:

• Diploma/GED

Degree:

• Associates degree preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

• Emergency Medical Tech - Basic in the State of Texas (Preferred)
• Emergency Medical Dispatch (IAMTCS) or equivalent within one year of employment
• Texas Driver's License
• Basic Life Support

Work Experience:

• Two years in a call center, dispatch center, or customer care center (Preferred)

Communication Skills:

• Above-average verbal communication
• Exceptional public speaking skills
• Writing and correspondence skills
• Report writing skills

Language Skills:

• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese)

Proficiencies:

• Typing: 40-49 words per minute
• Proficient in Electronic Medical Record systems, Contact Center software, Conference software, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
