Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Current CT EMT certification (minimum).
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial EMS experience, or emergency medical dispatching.
• Excellent prioritization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Patient throughput management and EMS dispatch coordination.
• Receive, interpret, intercept and process emergent and non-emergent transfers requiring EMS response.
• Set priority of multiple EMS requests and assign agencies by availability.
• Communicate with EMS agencies to relay information and track locations.
• Document and log shift information, including timestamps and delays.
• Collaborate with bed and case managers to improve patient throughput and bed management.
• Educate clinical workforce on electronic patient placement systems.
• Develop relationships with EVS and Transport staff to improve patient flow.
• Ensure cost effective and efficient processes to achieve clinical outcomes.
• Work with physicians and leadership to communicate clinical issues related to patient placement/flow.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies and Hartford HealthCare procedures.
