Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an EMS Transportation Billing Operations leader to oversee daily billing functions, staff development, and performance improvement. You will manage insurance filing, denial resolution, and financial reconciliations while partnering with EMS operations and payers to optimize revenue realization.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision-making, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to improve patient financial experience and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-5 years in healthcare revenue cycle or EMS billing environment
• Supervisory or management experience preferred
• Experience with accounts receivable management, insurance billing, and financial reconciliation

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight of EMS Transportation billing operations and daily billing activities
• Manages billing staff, sets performance expectations, and conducts evaluations
• Develops and maintains billing training and continuing education for staff
• Monitors revenue cycle KPIs (collections, AR days, denials, clean claim rate) and reports to leadership
• Oversees insurance filing, payer follow-up, denial resolution, and reconciliation
• Ensures daily deposits, posting, balancing, and compliance with policies and controls
• Drives continuous improvement through data analysis and actionable corrective actions
• Partners with EMS operations to improve documentation, charge capture, and authorization processes
• Ensures adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements
