Job summary

Thompson in Charlotte seeks a Professional Mentor to guide youth in life skills, safety, and school attendance within our nationally modeled program. You will mentor 8–12 youth across school, home, and community settings, building family partnerships and documenting activities.

The role offers a non-traditional schedule, typically 11 am–7 pm with some Saturdays/evenings, serving within a 30‑mile radius of Charlotte. Benefits include PTO, holidays, and insurance options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 1 year experience working with children or an Associate degree with 3 years' experience working with children.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong joining and relational abilities.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass drug screening and extensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach youth life skills such as avoiding risky behavior, safety and independence, and improving school attendance per the National model.
• Provide long-term mentorship to 8–12 youth in school, home, and community settings for 16 hours per month; document outings and contacts.
• Maintain a non-traditional schedule around 11 am–7 pm with some Saturdays/evenings; work within a 30-mile radius of Charlotte.
