Job summary

Applitrack seeks a Special Education Classroom teacher to lead an elementary program at Washington McKinley School. The role requires an Illinois State Teaching Credential for K-8 in a self-contained setting and an endorsed specialization in Special Education.

You will establish a positive classroom environment, develop IEP-based instruction, and collaborate with parents and school staff to support student growth and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Credential to teach grades K-8 in a self-contained classroom.
• Special Education teachers must hold an endorsement in their assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Direct Service: Establish rapport with and motivate each student; provide a structured program of academic activities with flexibility; individualize instruction to meet needs.
• Administration: Plan, implement and evaluate the IEP for each child; update goals; prepare reports; develop detailed lesson plans with modifications.
• Communication: Attend staffing, collaborate with paraprofessionals and other staff; meet with social worker/psychologist; assist with cross-class collaboration and progress reporting.
