Job summary

Applitrack is seeking an elementary school Special Education teacher for a self-contained/resource classroom. The role requires an Illinois State Teaching Credential for K-8 with an endorsement in Special Education, and reports to the Principal and district administrators.

The position entails developing an engaging classroom program, individualized instruction, and IEP planning and documentation, with collaboration across staff, social workers, and general education teachers.

Qualifications

• An appropriate, valid Illinois State Teaching Credential to teach grades K-8 in a self-contained/resource classroom.
• Special Education teachers must hold an endorsement in their assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Direct Service: Establish rapport with and develop individual techniques to motivate and manage each student.
• Direct Service: Provide a structured program of academic and activities with sufficient flexibility to hold interest and meet needs.
• Direct Service: Individualize instruction to facilitate optimum delivery of instruction in all academic areas.
• Administration: Plan, implement and evaluate the IEP for each child.
• Administration: Update IEP goals and objectives for annual reviews and trimester report cards.
• Administration: Prepare all reports required by administration.
• Administration: Prepare detailed lesson plans for each major subject area with modifications and accommodations.
• Administration: Maintain service delivery logs for each IEP student.
• Communication: Attend staffings of students assigned to class and/or resource program.
• Communication: Collaborate with paraprofessional and 1:1 facilitator regarding roles and responsibilities.
• Communication: Meet with social worker, psychologist and other personnel to monitor progress.
• Communication: Collaborate with general education teachers if needed for mainstreaming or resource support.
• Communication: Assist with self-help and self-care skills.
• Communication: Sanitize materials/equipment in accordance with Board policy.
• Communication: Perform all duties assigned by the building principal.
