Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs under the supervision of a special education teacher. The role involves assisting with classroom duties, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress.

The position includes one-on-one and small-group support during instructional activities, helping with bus duties and meal/recess supervision, and implementing IEP accommodations as directed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• Ability to work with students under supervision and support IEP objectives.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities one-on-one or in small groups as directed by the teacher; documents progress as directed.
• Assists students onto and off the school bus and supervises at lunch and recess as indicated in the IEP.
• Serves as an aide on the school bus, to and from school, as indicated in the IEP.
• Implements accommodations in a child’s IEP under the direction of the teacher.
• Provides clerical assistance – typing, filing, maintaining records and ordering supplies.
