Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs in general and special education settings. You will assist teachers with classroom tasks, support students during activities, and help with testing accommodations.

The role involves bus assistance, lunch/recess supervision, and implementing IEP-directed supports, including basic health-related tasks as needed. High school diploma required, with training on ASD possible.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development and behavior management.
• Ability to perform basic clerical tasks and follow instructions.
• Strong oral and written communication with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities and documents progress as directed.
• Assists students onto/off the school bus and supervises lunch and recess as indicated by IEP.
• Serves as a bus aide as indicated in the child’s IEP.
• Works with students to implement the child’s IEP under teacher guidance.
• Participates in training for toileting, personal care, and basic healthcare as indicated in IEP.
• Implements accommodations in a child’s IEP as directed by the teacher.
• Provides clerical assistance – typing, filing, records, and ordering supplies.
• Performs other related duties as required.
