Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks a Middle School Track & Field Assistant Coach with experience coaching throwing events. The one-year ancillary position supports student-athletes’ skill growth and character development, working with the head coach to promote sportsmanship and competitive excellence.

Season runs March through May, with practices Mon-Fri 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.; meets on weekday afternoons/evenings; flexible off-season work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Driver’s license required.
• Has at least 1 year of successful coaching experience or experience playing at the collegiate level.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and training theory of the sport.
• Must have the ability to teach beginner skills while also developing various skill level athletes in a positive and professional manner.
• Experience and ability to coach throwing events (shot put and discus,) at the middle school level.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse youth. Experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds is preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in providing safe, structured skill development practice and playing experiences, while also developing high character student athletes.
• Strong organizational and planning skills are required.
• Must demonstrate and uphold high ethical standards, serving as a role model and demonstrating a commitment to student engagement.
• Must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.

• Assist the head coach in promoting sportsmanship, character development, and competitive excellence.
