Job summary

Waterloo Community School District in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant at George Washington Carver Middle School to support students with individualized instruction under the supervision of the building principal.

Starting immediately, you will assist with classroom activities, monitor student behavior, support IEP goals, and perform light clerical duties while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with teachers, families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• NCLB compliance – 60 college credits, associate’s degree, or para educator license.
• Basic computer/technology skills required for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor and report student progress and behavior to support learning objectives.
• Support IEP/504/504 plans and behavioural interventions when applicable.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff and families to promote student success.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct in all interactions.
• Perform clerical duties to support classroom operations.
