Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• NCLB compliance – 60 college credit hours, associate’s degree, generalist or specialist para educator license OR district competency test.
• Computer/technology training as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Participates in professional development and implements classroom strategies.
• Provides support to students based on individual needs and IEP requirements.
• Participates in IEP meetings and behavior intervention meetings when applicable.
• Monitors and reports student progress to teachers and administrators.
• Communicates with teachers about programs and materials to meet student needs.
• Assists in de-escalating behavioral incidents and maintains student safety.
• Transports students as needed and provides supervision in various areas.
