Job summary

Biddeford Primary School is seeking a Long Term Sub - Functional Life Skills Teacher to support elementary students with district-approved curriculum and progress reporting. Under the principal's supervision, you will create a safe, engaging classroom and communicate with families and administrators.

The role emphasizes individualized and small-group instruction, ongoing assessments, and collaboration with grade-level staff. A Maine Elementary Teacher certification is required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification/license: 282/286.
• Maine State Certification as an Elementary Teacher.
• Maine State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Creates a safe, conducive environment for instruction with individualized/small group needs.
• Plans lessons and materials and adapts learning to maximize instructional time.
• Assesses student learning and adjusts methods for diverse needs.
• Instructs students in citizenship and other required topics per laws and district rules.
• Pursues professional development through seminars or research.
• Keeps accurate records of student progress and attendance.
• Engages parents and communicates progress to them.
• Maintains classroom behavior standards per policies.
• Collaborates with grade-level staff and participates in meetings.
• Selects and requisitions books and supplies; maintains inventory.
• Supervises students during activities outside class and with transportation.
• Administers standardized tests per district programs.
