Job summary

Monarch NC in New Bern is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with mental health and developmental challenges live more independently.

You will assess needs, support community participation, assist with daily living activities, transportation, safety, and maintain documentation, including progress notes. Sleepovers may be required, and training is provided. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid Driver's License (USA).

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals' hopes and goals and provide supports to achieve them.
• Support community relationships and natural supports.
• Assist individuals in participating in community activities aligned with their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of individuals and support advocacy efforts.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, self-determined relationships.
• Contribute to assessment, planning, and implementation of the individual’s plan.
• Complete required documentation, progress notes, and timesheets.
• Assist with daily living tasks (housekeeping, meal prep, laundry, shopping, etc.).
• Provide transportation as needed and arrange travel.
• Support safety procedures and emergency readiness in the community.
• Assist staff with orientation and training.
• Sleepover at residential setting may be required.
• Attend trainings and comply with policies and regulations.
