Job summary

The Arc of Howard County is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving independent living and meaningful community participation. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide person-centered support, promote dignity and self-determination, and help clients develop essential life skills.

You will document progress, follow ISP plans, and collaborate with families, case managers, and staff to ensure safety,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Some college coursework in human services or related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Ability to pass background checks and maintain required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide Personalized support to promote independence and community integration.
• Assist Persons with daily living skills including personal care and mobility.
• Support Persons in developing relationships and community connections.
• Implement person-centered planning strategies to help Persons achieve goals.
• Document daily activities, progress notes, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Ensure health, safety, and rights of Persons served.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Attend trainings and maintain certifications as required.
