Job summary

The Arc Montgomery County in Derwood, MD is hiring a Direct Support Professional responsible for assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in daily activities and live more independently.

Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. You will work across locations from Gaithersburg to Silver Spring, require a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, pass a DOT physical, and complete basic English math/reading tests.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to transport the people we support.
• Must be willing to drive 12 passenger van and will be required to pass a DOT physical.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling and pushing.
• Must pass a 6th grade math and reading test in English as required by the Maryland Board of Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Support the people we support to engage in daily community activities.
• Work independently and make effective decisions regarding safety and positive outcomes.
• Flexibility to work at various locations from Gaithersburg to the Silver Spring area.
